ROUND DANCE

ED AND KAREN GLOODT

After graduating from Wichita State University, we moved to Ardmore, OK.  We both completed master’s degrees in Oklahoma, and in 1982 Ed, whose undergraduate degree is in gold and silversmithing, opened a custom jewelry store.

About a year after taking square dance lessons, Ed began calling and later Karen started teaching and cueing rounds for the local square dance club.  We have been active in square and round dancing for over 40 year and have been guest caller and/or cuer for many area festivals.  We continue to teach in Ardmore, and Karen cues for Rainbow Rounds and the Roadrunners Square Dance Club in Ft. Worth, TX.  We are members of ICBDA, DRDC, ORDA, TRDTA, NTCA, and ROUNDALAB.

Our choreography includes Beautiful Dreamer III, Boogie Time, Coney Island IV, Jesse, Uptown III, Scheherazade IV, Dream on, Little Dreamer, Willie Can, Once in a While, Ain’t That a Shame, Jumpin’ Jupiter, I Talk to the Trees, You Decorated My Life, Snap Your Fingers,  A Wink and a Smile III, Cuando Me Enamoro, I’ve Got a Rock & Roll Heart, Angel on My Shoulder, Raining in My Heart, Juke Box Baby, Tango Roma, St. Elmo’s Fire, After All These Years, Bali Hai IV, Cherry Pink, Breezin’ Along with the Breeze, Michelle, Black Satin, Play a Simple Melody, You’re Just in Love, Lollipops and Roses, and many others.

Ed is retired from the vocational system in Ardmore, and Karen is a retired Spanish/English teacher.  We have been married 56 years, and we have two daughters (and sons-in law), two grown grandchildren, a 4 year old granddaughter, and brand new baby granddaughter.

Square and Round Dancing have been a big part of our lives, but one of the best parts of these activities is all the wonderful people whom we have met.
